A message from our Congregation

Middleburg Heights Community Church is a very friendly congregation who would invite you to join us in calling this your church home. We are an active congregation that reaches out in worship and service as we teach and preach the saving grace of Jesus Christ.

Our members come from diverse backgrounds and walks of life. We are a good mix of active retired people and younger families with children of all ages. The thing we all have in common is our devotion and love for God and the desire to serve his church. We also have a great love for Middleburg Heights Community Church and wish to see its ministry continue to grow and prosper.

We offer many opportunities to become involved in our church from our inspirational Christian education program to our mission outreach activities to participation in one of our choirs. We feel that we truly have a wonderful ministry at this church and want to invite you to discover all the great things this church has to offer.

If you are in the area, we sincerely hope that you stop by to worship with us on Sunday morning.

Please join us.

May God bless you

Two words often used to describe the United Church of Christ: freedom and responsibility.

We have been described as "a church that is independent and subject to no temporal authority; but equally as a church that is servant to all and ministers to everyone."

“Thin Places”

Some people have had mysterious and awesome experiences.  Sometimes these are called “mountaintop” experiences because they are like the experience of the disciples on the mountaintop with Jesus.  Sometimes these are called “thin places” because it seems as if the dividing line between the holy and the ordinary is very thin.  Pick up a resource sheet on the Christian Education table in the Parlor to start a discussion of “thin places” with your children.

 ASH WEDNESDAY SERVICE

7 p.m. Wednesday, February 22

“Ash Wednesday marks the beginning of a time of inner revealing.  We confront the reality that sometimes our prayers are efforts to show God our best sides, rather than our most broken selves.  It is a time to unveil to our own awareness the true contours of our hearts, including the shadowy parts.

We see and wear ashes not only in grief for our mortality, but also in our sense of freedom.  In God’s loving way, forgiveness, justice, and renewal aren’t all up to our efforts and goodness.  Our spiritual work is to make all dimensions of life and community available to the renewing love of the Holy One.”
