When we are trying to eat healthfully, it’s essential to keep track of just how much are consuming. Check food container labels. The portion we’re planning to eat may not be the same as the serving size on the label. Remember, if the label serving size is 1 cup & we eat 2 cups, we are getting twice the calories, fat, sodium, & carbohydrates listed.

  • Thought: God’s messengers come to us every day, in many ways.

Taking Acetaminophen (Tylenol) can be safely & effectively used to treat many common concerns (headaches, cold, aches & pains). However, taking more than is recommended, can be dangerous. Because acetaminophen is often the ingredient in many over-the- counter drugs, if you take them along with plain Tylenol, you may be getting an overdose. Read labels and ask the pharmacists or your doctor if you have any questions to avoid taking too much of this medication.

* Thought: In Christ we are made alive, whole, and useful

“Deep breathing” can help relieve some stresses we experience during the day. Lie down on a flat surface, place a hand on your stomach (just above navel) & the other hand on chest, breathe in slowly, (making stomach rise), hold for 4 seconds & breathe out slowly. Try a “Breath Prayer” while doing this. While breathing in say: “Wait for God” while breathing out – “Be strong”   or  In -  “I have calmed” – Out – “and quieted my soul.”  1 more: In – “Breathe in hope”  Out-“Breathe out fear.’    Or make up your own. Repeat 4-5 times.  God will hear & you’ll feel better!

I will be in the Church office this week on Tues. 5/11 & Wed. 5/12.   Please stop by for a Blood Pressure Check or if I may be of any assistance.

With much current focus being on conservation, one simple measure we all could take (and teach our children) is turn the water faucet off while brushing our teeth. Leaving the water run could waste up to 3 gallons of water a minute! After wetting our toothbrush, turn off the water, brush, and turn the water back on to rinse! Never too late to break a habit!

When listening to others we should do so with patience. Try not to hurry the other person, show courtesy to what he/she has to say, no matter if we may disagree, we may learn something. Also listen with our hearts, practicing empathy, putting ourselves in the other person’s place. Try to hear problems in our hearts. Then, ask God to help us respond with the special words that can reflect His love.

*”Don’t be impatient. Wait for the Lord, and he will come ……..” Psalm 27:14 LB
